Moneda Cinema Pathé, Art Deco, Maurice Delannoy
The medal in the image is the renowned medal “Cinema” made of bronze, designed by the French artist and sculptor Maurice Delannoy (1885-1972) around the 1920s.It was issued as a commemorative or award medal for film events and festivals, especially in France and the United Kingdom, during the 1920s and 1930s.
- Art Decó DesignThe medal is a prime example of the Art Deco style of the period.
- AnversoIt depicts a film projector at the bottom, from which beams of light emanate. In the center, a nude female figure stands above the projector with outstretched arms, and the beams illuminate a variety of projected images around her. The word “CINEMA” is inscribed at the base.
- ReversoThe reverse of the medal is usually plain or features custom inscriptions, such as those seen on awards given to winners of amateur film festivals.
